The Challenge
Construction in Assam runs on phone calls and personal networks. A family planning a house has no easy way to find a contractor they can trust, get a realistic cost, or find masons and electricians who are free to work.
Contractors have the opposite problem. They want a steady flow of real enquiries, but most online “leads” are form fills from ad campaigns, and many will never become a project. If contractors pay for leads that go nowhere, they stop paying. If a customer gets calls from ten contractors at once, they stop sending enquiries.
The platform needed to work for both sides at once. That meant a consumer app for many kinds of users, a field team to check leads, and an operations team running everything behind it.
Core Features
- One app, many roles
Buyers, material sellers, contractors, skilled workers and guests all sign up in the same app, and each role sees different screens. Three field roles need admin approval: Area Managers, Lead Managers and Associate Partners. Anyone who applies for one of them gets guest access in the meantime, without leads. If an admin has not decided within seven days, the request lapses automatically. - A lead pipeline where every lead is checked
Facebook Lead Ads enquiries come in automatically through Google Sheets. An Area Manager in the right district claims each lead and calls the customer. Promising leads get a site visit, and the Lead Manager files an inspection report from the app. Only leads that pass these checks go on sale in the marketplace. - Scheduled jobs that keep leads moving
If an Area Manager claims a lead and logs no call within five days, the lead goes back to the shared pool. Lead Managers get a reminder the day before an accepted site visit, and visit offers nobody accepts are cancelled. When a lead is approved, every user gets a push notification straight away. - Lead pack marketplace
Contractors and sellers buy lead packs in the app through Razorpay. When a buyer unlocks a lead, only they can see it for 30 days. After that, if they have not closed the deal, it goes back to the other members. The app then asks the buyer whether the lead turned into business, which shows the operations team which sources and districts produce real work. - Calculators and estimates
Calculators cover civil work, interiors, tiling, painting and solar installation. Estimates can be saved as PDFs and emailed. Customers can also request a full building estimate and attach a voice memo describing what they want. - Materials, manpower and more
The app has a catalogue of construction materials and suppliers, and skilled workers in 14 trades. It also offers help with funding (loans and government schemes) and starting a business, jobs and training, district contacts, a community feed with video, and a points and rewards system. - Admin panel for operations
A Filament admin panel covers leads, call logs, field visits, purchases, role approvals, estimates, courses, rewards and push notifications. Dashboards track sign-ups, lead value, estimate revenue and which services people use. Feature flags let admins switch any part of the app on or off for a role or a single user, with no app release.
Shipping & Reliability
- Fastlane automates Android builds, internal testing, production releases and staged rollouts, all from a single command.
- Shorebird code push delivers fixes straight to installed apps without a store release.
- Forced updates, controlled from the admin panel, move everyone off a version when a change cannot be pushed any other way.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging carries transactional alerts and three daily engagement messages whose content changes by day of the week.
- Microsoft Clarity session analytics shows where people get stuck, so UX fixes are based on real usage.

Why This Work Matters
Construction employs a very large number of people across Assam: masons, electricians, plumbers, small contractors and material dealers. Most of them find work through word of mouth. When leads are checked and exclusive, customers get serious contractors, and contractors spend less time and money chasing enquiries that go nowhere.
None of the individual features is complicated. The value comes from combining them — lead checks, time-limited exclusivity, automatic release of stale claims and approved field roles — so that the marketplace is worth paying for.
